More About The Event:

Join Morris County 250 and the Morris Museum for a special screening of the acclaimed PBS series Drive By History featuring the episode: The Worst Winter of the Revolution: 1779–80.

Hosted by storyteller and Morris County resident Ken Magos, Drive By History explores the stories behind historical sites and roadside markers throughout New Jersey and New York, connecting local history to the broader American story through historians, authors, preservationists, and subject matter experts.

This special episode highlights the Continental Army’s brutal winter encampment at Jockey Hollow during the winter of 1779–1780, one of the harshest winters in American history. Viewers will learn how General George Washington and his troops endured extreme cold, snowstorms, food shortages, and disease while stationed in Morristown, and why Morris County played such a critical role in the fight for American independence.
