Arts & CultureCalais Foundation Announces 14th Annual Gala to Benefit Special Education Programs

East Hanover, NJ — An inspiring evening of celebration, connection, and impact is just around the corner. The Calais Foundation 14th Annual Gala is on April 23, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Hanover Manor in East Hanover.  Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, a tricky tray and silent auction, and a seated dinner, along with mission-driven presentations highlighting the impact of The Calais School. Professional announcer and voiceover artist George Alan Ruth will serve as emcee.

Now in its 14th year, the Gala supports students at The Calais School, a state-approved private special education school in North Jersey. The evening will bring together Calais supporters, families, and community members dedicated to empowering children and young adults with learning disabilities and socialization challenges.

Michael Smith, CPA, Partner at Nisivoccia LLP, will receive The McClafferty Award in recognition of his longstanding leadership and financial stewardship in support of The Calais School. Michelle Primiano, Guidance Counselor at The Calais School, will be honored with The Leitner Excellence in Education Award for her dedication to student advocacy and her role in preparing students for success beyond the classroom. The evening will also shine a spotlight on the Salvaterra family. Their journey to finding the right educational home for their son Niklas reflects the life-changing impact of The Calais School.

Proceeds from the Gala directly support essential programs at The Calais School—programs that go beyond tuition to provide critical academic, therapeutic, and social-emotional support. In a continued commitment to accessibility, ticket prices have remained unchanged for the third consecutive year.
