CHATHAM, NJ – Chatham High students produced an average SAT score of 1,246, which ranked No. 40 among New Jersey schools and No. 2 among Morris County public schools, according to the report on the 2023-2024 school year.
The top Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores in the state came from students at Edison Academy Magnet School with an average mark of 1,530. The highest score that can be attained on the SAT is 1,600.
Mountain Lakes High, with an average of 1,251, was the only Morris County public school to score higher than Chatham. Lakes ranks No. 35 in the state.
According to the CollegeBoard annual report for 2024, the national average for the SAT is 1,024 and the New Jersey average is 1,050, with Garden State students averaging 519 in Math and 531 in Reading. In New Jersey, 77,320 students took the SAT during the 2023-2024 school year.
Madison ranks No. 41 in the state with an average score of 1,241, placing it third among Morris County public schools.
Millburn ranks No. 9 in the state with an average SAT of 1,382; Summit comes in at No. 34 with an average of 1,258 and Westfield ranks No. 34 at 1,254.
