Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2″ is headed to Netflix in July, but before then, he’s working on another movie filming in New Jersey. Sandler, who filmed extensively in the Garden State for his celebrity-packed golf comedy sequel, apparently liked being here so much he decided to go another round. The actor and comedian is producing a Netflix film starring his teen daughter Sadie Sandler. The untitled film, currently known as “Untitled Roommates Project,” is going into production this summer and looking for New Jersey extras and background actors. Grant Wilfley Casting tells NJ Advance Media that the production needs people to play college and high school students.

The comedy, which is filming in Jersey from late June to August, will be directed by Chandler Levack (“I Like Movies”) and star Sadie Sandler, 19, and Chloe East, 24. East had a memorable role playing Sister Paxton in the intense 2024 horror film “Heretic” alongside Sophie Thatcher and Hugh Grant. She also appeared in Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” (2022). Adam Sandler, 58, is producing the “Untitled Roommates Project” through his company Happy Madison Productions. Sadie Sandler also appears in “Happy Gilmore 2″ with her sister Sunny Sandler and mother Jackie Sandler.

The Sandler sisters appear in many of their father’s films, but have increasingly been stepping into the spotlight with starring roles. Both Sadie and Sunny, 16, starred in the 2023 Netflix movie “You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah,” written by Alison Peck (based on the YA novel by Amanda Stern, writing as Fiona Rosenbloom) and directed by Sammi Cohen. Adam Sandler produced the well-received comedy.

How to apply to be an extra

Extras have to be 18 or older (and can play younger in the movie). If you want to apply to play a college student or high school student in the film, email roommates@gwcnyc.com with the subject “College Students” or “High School Students.” Include your name; phone number; confirmation that you are 18 and local to New Jersey; whether or not you are a Screen Actors Guild member; whether or not you have any visible tattoos; height, weight and clothing sizes (for costumes); and clear, current photos of yourself. The SAG rate for background actors is $216 per eight hours until July 1, then $224 per eight hours after that date. Non-SAG actors: $176 per 10 hours.
