“The Home” was filmed in various NJ locations, including Denville.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Local horror fans should keep an eye out for some familiar set pieces in Pete Davidson’s upcoming psychological thriller “The Home,” which was filmed in Morris County.
The film stars the Saturday Night Live alum and was filmed at the Saint Francis Residential Community in Denville, which was shut down and set to be demolished a few years back.
Davidson stars as Max, a new employee at a senior citizen home, “who realizes that the residents and caretakers in the retirement home he started working at hide sinister secrets,” according to IMDb.
While the film was primarily shot in Denville, other NJ filming locations included Nutley and Elizabeth. The shoot was wrapped in 2022. Several photos were released during the production of “The Home,” including one of Davidson, soaked in fake blood, giving the camera two thumbs up.
This isn’t the comedy actor’s first pivot into the horror genre, with Davidson’s “Bodies, Bodies, Bodies” releasing in 2022 with an 86 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The Home” was co-written and directed by James DeMonaco, who many horror fans might recognize from his work on 2013’s “The Purge.” A trailer for “The Home” was recently released. The film is rated R and is hitting theaters on July 25.
