On Thursday, May 1, the Screen Alliance of New Jersey (SANJ) will be hosting the first ever NJ Film Expo, sponsored by the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTVC) and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). The expo, which will be held at Meadowlands Arena in Rutherford, will showcase the state’s ever-expanding infrastructure, proving New Jersey has all your production needs covered.
According to the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission’s website, New Jersey hosted approximately 27,342 film and television productions from 1978 through 2023, a testament to the state’s history as the birthplace of film. The NJ Film & TV Expo will demonstrate production assets in the state, foster industry connections, and highlight New Jersey’s economic incentives, including tax credits from the NJEDA to help developing business ventures.
“New Jersey is ready at this very moment–fully equipped and well-stocked to handle productions of any size, not in the future, but today,” said SANJ President and operator of Cinelease Studios, Caven Point, Gannon Murphy. “The Expo is evidence of how robust and varied the list of services and support companies is across the state. From small business owners to major corporate brands in the film industry, everyone is coming together for this inaugural event.”
Vendor booths and speaker panels at the event will allow attendees a close-up view of the future of film in New Jersey.
“This Expo brings together companies from every sector of New Jersey’s constantly expanding film and TV industry,” said Nick Day, vice president of Screen Alliance New Jersey and Co-CEO of Edge Auto, Inc. “We may be on the opposite coast from Hollywood, but New Jersey has become just as much of a powerhouse for film and television production. Whether you’re here to connect with industry leaders, meet state representatives, learn more about New Jersey’s robust tax credit program, or discuss the future of the industry, this event is the place to do it.”
