The Morris County Economic Development Alliance, the Morris County Tourism Bureau and the Morris County Economic Development Corporation are hosting a complimentary workshop on May 23 to teach municipalities how to become RevolutionNJ (RevNJ) communities to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
Where: Washington’s Headquarters Museum, 30 Washington Place, Morristown
When: Thursday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“We encourage all county municipalities and historical organizations to attend this workshop. These partnerships will help us create a comprehensive strategic plan for our 250th celebrations, ensuring we include all municipal events and programs that honor the resilience, innovation and unity of our forefathers in the American Revolution,” said Commissioner Director Christine Myers.
RevNJ, a partnership between the New Jersey Historical Commission and the nonprofit Crossroads of the American Revolution Association, is dedicated to planning the commemoration of this historic event in New Jersey. The benefits of becoming a RevNJ Community member allow municipalities to cultivate new partnerships, programs and events that will engage local businesses, nonprofits, artists, scholars, schools, universities, and community members.
“The RevNJ initiative offers municipalities a platform to weave together the threads of our past with the opportunities of our future, inviting all stakeholders to participate in crafting a meaningful tribute to our nation’s journey.” said Craig Schlosser, President & CEO of the Morris County Economic Development Alliance and Tourism Bureau. “As RevNJ community members, we’re not just marking a milestone; it’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a legacy of collaboration and innovation that will resonate for centuries.”
The program is being presented by the Alliance’s 250th Committee & the Morris County Economic Development Corporation’s Municipal Council. Municipalities and historical organizations are encouraged to attend. Featured speakers on the program include Marc Lorenc, Chief Public Historian of the New Jersey Historical Commission, and Ashley Abruzzo, Heritage Tourism Program Manager of the Crossroads of the American Revolution.
